There is an incredible amount to experience for those who take a walk around Karmøy. We have only given you a few tips about what is available.

• The Five Foolish Virgins, Norheim Five single-stone monuments located under the Karmsund Bridge. It is thought that these stones once served as a primitive calendar system or perhaps a grave site.
• St Olav's Church and The Virgin Mary's Sewing Needle, Avaldsnes A medieval church built by Håkon Håkonsen around 1250. Virgin Mary's Sewing Needle is 7.2m tall and is one of Norway's highest stone monuments.
• Old Skudeneshavn An arena for historical buildings and culture. Guided tours available by arrangement between 16 June - 18 August.Information and registration at the museum in Mælandsgården.
• Kopervik Kopervik offers a charming mix of old and new settlements and a lot of pleasant surprises.
• Rehaugane, Avaldsnes Six large, ancient burial mounds dating from the Bronze Age.
• The Visnes mining area with Fransehagen, Visnes Open air spaces, a museum and a park.
• The boat houses at Solhålå: A fish landing and processing community at Vea giving an impression of the herring fisheries in the mid-1800s. The buildings are open. No guided tours.
• Old Boat Houses at Hop, Ferkingstad Remains of the large boat houses on King Ferking's estate during the Iron Age.
• Ting stones at Åkra There are three single-stone monuments now located at the cultural centre in Åkrehamn. Originally these monuments stood at the old Åkra farm where they marked the Ting (place of assembly, parliament).
• Fisherman's memorial, Ferkingstad A memorial to the fishermen who lost their lives at sea along the east and west coasts of the USA. Glockenspiel.
• The Derik House, Hillesland: this shows how people built and lived at medium large farms in the south of Karmøy during the first half of the 1800s. The environmental section of Karmsund Folkemuseum in Haugesund. Open on arrangement.
• Feøy: Idyllic island community west of Karmøy. Regular boat service from Haugesund. There are no cars here but a café and a general store.
